Research led out of the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, and in conjunction with mitochondrial disease research groups from the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute and La Trobe University, has uncovered two new genes linked to a major cause of mitochondrial disease. The research brings promise of improved genetic diagnosis and potential therapeutic targets for treatment of mitochondrial diseases.
