PanelApp Australia

Home Tools & resources Data analysis & interpretation PanelApp Australia

PanelApp Australia is an open, online platform enabling laboratories, clinicians and researchers to:

  • Record and share structured gene-disease validity assessments
  • Create and rapidly compare evidence-based virtual gene panels for genomic analysis with the aim of establishing national consensus and best practice
  • Contribute towards national and international efforts to establish consensus gene-disease relationships.

PanelApp was originally designed by Genomics England for the 100,000 Genomes Project. A local version was deployed by Australian Genomics in December 2019. The platform is now used by multiple Australian diagnostic laboratories. It hosts 250 virtual gene panels and has 160 registered reviewers. PanelApp Australia is integrated with Shariant and contributes to international efforts in gene curation as an active member of the Gene Curation Coalition. The PanelApp Australia team runs regular online training sessions for clinicians and scientists and welcome broad input into platform content.

In the spirit of reconciliation Australian Genomics acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
