Event information

SWAN2019 is the inaugural conference for SWAN Australia (SWAN), a not for profit organisation and peak body supporting families who have a child with an undiagnosed or rare genetic condition.

SWAN2019 will bring together a range of experts to provide knowledge and understanding of genetics and genomics to those where the condition of their child is unknown. Living with the unknown is challenging and can often be isolating. SWAN2019 invites SWAN parents, carers, extended family, friends and other rare genetic peer support groups to come together and learn more about genetics and genomics.

Conference Program includes:

Professor David Amor – An Understanding of Genetics|
Associate Professor Sue White – A Day in the Life of a Geneticist
Jane Tiller – Ethics, Data and Insurance
Rhiana Spinoso – Genetic Counselling
Renee Swannack – How Genetic Counselling Helped me to Make Decisions
Cas Simons – Research Scientists
Kris Pierce – “Beyond a diagnosis” – Research and Collaboration
Chriselle Hicketon – Direct to Consumer Testing
Linda Fothergill – The impact of SWAN on Families
