Join the Genomics Education Network Australia!

Home All news & events News Join the Genomics Education Network…

We invite you to join the Genomics Education Network Australia!

Along with the rapid growth in genomic medicine, the number of education providers delivering face-to-face and online education, training and resources in clinical genomics is also expanding, at all levels – from formal university courses to medical specialty training and ongoing professional development.

Australian Genomics has proposed a Genomics Education Network for Australia (GENA), a network of education providers, evaluators and researchers working in this area. The aim of the network is to promote best practice in genomic education by sharing experiences, resources, evaluation tools and research outcomes.

You may want to register your interest in the Genomics Education Network Australia if you are:

  • An educator providing formal genomics education programs to university students, health professionals or scientists
  • A health professional delivering genomics education activities to other health professionals
  • An evaluator or researcher interested in sharing and/or testing research outcomes for genomics education
  • Someone who is thinking of developing a genomics education activity, program or core competencies.

The Network is still being developed and will officially commence with a half-day meeting to coincide with the HGSA 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting in Sydney.

The agenda will include introductions, an overview of current genomics education programs (we know about), and focused workshops to refine the aim and scope of the Network and plan next steps.

To register your interest in joining the Network and/or to attend the meeting in Sydney (9.30-1.30, Friday 3 August 2018), please email education@australiangenomics.org.au.
