AGHA research ethics update

Home All news & events News AGHA research ethics update

Excellent news to start 2017 – ethical approval was granted by Melbourne Health’s Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) early this month.  The National Ethics Application Form ‘NEAF’ approval currently covers many of our partner sites across Australia, involved in the neuromuscular disorder, brain malformation, epileptic encephalopathy and mitochondrial disorder flagships.

Site-specific governance processes are well underway for all clinical sites, with support from the Australian Genomics Coordination team, Program One project officers, genetic counsellors, and flagship clinicians. For other recruitment sites not covered by the NEAF, the process of seeking ethical approval is now underway.

Australian Genomics’ newest flagships (KidGen Renal Genetics, Genetic Immunology, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and Leukodystrophies) will be included in an amended ethics submission to Melbourne Health HREC.

Australian Genomics is delighted to reach this significant milestone, and poised to accelerate recruitment as soon as possible. Stay tuned for further updates.
